In this workshop, students will learn the basics of kiln fired enamel; the art of fusing powdered glass to metal. Students will learn the steps to make enameled jewelry including pendants and earrings, and how to safely work with a 1500º kiln. Techniques will include dry sifting colored enamel powder onto copper, using stencils and decals, sgraffito (scratching through a top layer of enamel to reveal the layer beneath), and painting on enamels. Students will work on several pieces to take home. No prior jewelry experience needed.

Beginning jewelry making students will learn the fundamental techniques for designing and fabricating a sterling silver textured band ring. Students will learn how to texture, file, form, solder, sand, and polish the ring. All materials will be provided, including sterling silver, copper (for practicing techniques), solder, and sandpaper.

In this workshop, students will expand their knowledge of beginning enameling and learn new techniques, including separation enamel, crackle enamel, and wet packing on copper mesh. Students should have taken the beginning enameling class or have a basic knowledge of enameling.

In this intermediate workshop, students will learn how to make a chain-link bracelet in sterling silver. Students will practice in copper to form and solder links to create different geometric and organic designs, then choose a design and make their own handmade chain in sterling silver, finished with a handmade clasp. This class requires some experience with soldering, such as the Beginning Jewelry class or workshops.

Beginning jewelry-making students can continue learning in this workshop which focuses on creating a set of 6 textured bangle bracelets. Sterling silver and copper will be used. Students will learn to further develop their fabrication skills, including measurement, texturing, filing, forming, soldering, and tumbler finishing.

This is a guided open studio for enameling where participants will have a chance to work on their own projects. Please note, copper will NOT be provided; bring your own blanks and supplies. Participants should have prior experience with enameling and be comfortable with using a kiln.

The holidays are upon us, and it is time to get festive! Learn how to make an ornament using kiln-fired vitreous enamel (powdered glass) on copper shapes, then decorate it to your liking using stencils, millefiori, frit, stamps, and enamel paints. Participants will be able to work on two ornaments as well as several earrings and pendants.

In this workshop, students will learn or review piercing skills and bezel setting a stone to create a Sterling Silver pendant. Students will pierce a design into the sterling silver and set a cabachon stone to construct their one of a kind pendant. Fabrication skills will include drilling, sawing, piercing, filing, soldering, setting a stone, sanding and polishing.
