Raising and Sinking Copper Vessels

  • Motherbrook Arts and Community Center 123 High Street Dedham, MA, 02026 United States (map)

In this class, you will learn the fundamental skills required for sinking and raising copper vessels. In the first session, you will sink a small bowl, including finishing it with a foot and a tempered edge. In the second session, you will begin a second piece, focusing on introductory raising techniques to form a taller vessel and then stretching it vertically. The third & fourth sessions will concentrate on transforming your second vessel into a finished bell, complete with an inner drum, or a spinning pencil cup, with a stand and a stackable element.
